What we do when you tell us about anti-social behaviour

We take any report of anti-social behaviour very seriously and we will make sure the problem is investigated.

Sometimes, for example, where the problem is a dispute over where a fence should go, we will invite both sides to try to come to an agreement. We might ask you to keep a ‘nuisance diary’ to record the times and dates of incidents. Most of the time, a problem can be sorted out just by getting both sides to talk to each other.

Council tenants and anti-social behaviour

We expect that all council tenants will act reasonably, and that most differences between neighbours can be resolved amicably without our involvement. Unfortunately, sometimes people will not change their behaviour. If a tenant continues to be a nuisance to his or her neighbours, we will take formal action. This can include eviction for a breach of the tenancy agreement.

Please tell your local housing office as soon as possible if a neighbour is causing a nuisance.
