Important changes for people receiving Child Benefit

From 2 November 2009, Child Benefit will no longer be considered when you claim for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

So, if you are on a low income and Child Benefit previously stopped you claiming, you may now be entitled to help with your rent and Council Tax payments.

You can claim Housing Benefit if you have to pay rent for a property that you live in and you receive Income Support, Income Based Job Seeker's Allowance, Guaranteed Pension Credit or if you are on a low income.
