Enterprising Communities

If you or somebody you know living in the community has a business idea help is available to assist start up and growth. Aire Valley Homes are part of a partnership of housing organisations delivering “Enterprising Communities” to help access start up training and support. This is funded by Leeds City Councils Sharing the Success program.

It has long been recognised that lots of business ideas never get the opportunity to develop and grow due to lack of appropriate support to get started. Often banks and institutions do not take entrepreneurs from Black and Minority Ethnic communities seriously because of the barriers in communicating the ideas and business plan.

The aim of our service is to identify potential entrepreneurs within our local communities to help businesses born in the community grow. The project has already worked successfully in Manchester and Bradford providing basic support, training and finding out what assistance people need.

Enterprising Communities will work from a grass roots level by engaging with local partners / communities in order to realise untapped entrepreneurial ability. Subsequently several businesses are moving forward to the next stage in development.

In the next few months the project will shift focus to people in Leeds with the will and desire to set up and grow their business ideas. Training, consultation and support will be provided locally. This service is free of charge.
